It is with great pleasure that we are now able to announce the first, second and third place winners of the 2nd Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year competition. Along with these winning images all of the fifty shortlisted entries will be exhibited in both the Quay Arts and Dimbola Lodge in 2008 so everyone will be able to enjoy the quality and recognise the skills of our Island photographers.

Statement 23/11/07

Published by admin under IWPOY 2007, Press Release

Whilst every effort has been made by the organisers to ensure that the IWPOY is fair to all Island photographers, due to recent events, we now find it necessary to issue the following statement

conduct not in keeping with the spirit of this competition, multiple single-user registrations, the use of false names and/or addresses will result in disqualification from receiving an IWPOY award and taking part in all future Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year events

IWPOY 2007 shortlist

Published by admin under IWPOY 2007

This year’s judging is complete and the short-listed entries may be viewed in the slideshow top-right above or by clicking the Gallery link on the right. Thanks to the competition Judges and to local photographer David Betts stepping in and and helping out at the eleventh hour. We are also extremely pleased to announce that Island MP Andrew Turner will be presenting the awards to this year’s successful Island photographers

The IWPOY 2007 has finally closed for entries and with well over 200 images submitted the judge’s task will be quite daunting. This year’s theme of ‘lifestyles’ has received a great diversity of images and the judges will soon embark on selecting their fifty for the short-list. These short-listed images will be displayed in the IWPOY 2007 gallery as soon as the judge’s decisions have been finalised and the top three winners will be announced at the Awards Presentation evening. In addition all fifty shortlisted entries will be exhibited both at the Quay Arts and Dimbola Lodge in 2008 and through their support everyone will be able to recognise and appreciate the fantastic photographic talent that we have here on the Island.

We are very pleased to be able to confirm that Essential will once again be providing high quality canvas prints for the top three winners and the overall winner will also be able to spend the day with an Isle of Wight County Press photographer with the possibility of having some of their work published.

We are very much looking forward to the IWPOY 2007 Awards Presentation evening later this year and would like to take this opportunity to thank all of our sponsors, supporters and of course, all of you, the Island’s photographers who have entered the competition. Good Luck to everyone and we hope to soon be able to see you on the shortlist!
