The final shortlist for the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards 2010 is announced today, Thursday 17th February.
There is a slight change to the competition format this year with only 40 instead of the usual 50 entries appearing in the shortlist. This change allows space for prints from the Isle of Wight Young Photographer of the Year to be displayed alongside the main IWPOY entries in the Quay Arts Exhibiton.
The competition as always attracted in excess of 200 photographers, from across the Island. Continue reading
At long last here is your chance to meet the Judges for the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Competition 2010.
Due to illness, holidays and bad weather, getting everyone together for the IWPOY Judging 2010 was a logistical nightmare, but we hope the end result will justify the means. Continue reading
Unfortunately due to lack of entries the Isle of Wight Young Photographer of the Year My Life, My Island competition has been cancelled!
The main aim of the Young Photographer of the Year competition was to encourage those under 16 yrs to get out and about on the Island so that we could showcase just what the Isle of Wight has to offer. Unfortunately although we received over 30 registrations from those under 16 yrs the majority did not submit their entries into the specific My Life, My Island Category.
Thank you to those who participated, but sadly there can be no prize award, as it would be unfair to award any prestigious title based on so few entries.
However, we intend to ask the Judges if they will choose three of the best images currently contained in the My Life, My Island Gallery, and they will be exhibited in the IWPOY Wall of Fame along with the main IWPOY shortlisted entries at the Quay Arts in March 2011.
It is disappointing not enough entries were submitted in the youth section of the IWPOY photography competition. Despite this we are happy to have tried and hopefully will re-launch Young IWPOY again in 2011.
As most of the photographers living on Isle of Wight are probably aware, the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year (IWPOY) 2010 annual photography competition closes today. There is just enough time for entrants to read through the rules to ensure they’ve got all of their potential winning images in order.
For those photographers that have already registered but have yet to submit their images, details on how to upload images are supplied via this link: click here… View the IWPOY 2010 gallery click here… and Good Luck!

Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year (IWPOY) organisers are pleased to announce the launch of our newly redesigned photography competition website.
Time to refresh your online browser as “the new restyled look along with integrated galleries, reinforces IWPOY’s identity, with creative styling we are ready for your creative imaging entries”
The IWPOY is the largest photography competition on the Isle of Wight and is open to all amateur or professional photographers that reside on the Island.
Entry into the competition is FREE! There are presently two categories to choose from, which we feel cover all bases of photographic genre. The main IWPOY category open to all is Earth Wind Fire and Water and this year we launch the Isle of Wight Young Photographer of the Year My Life, My Island for under 16 yrs.
We have some new and exciting plans in the pipeline for later this year; details are under wraps but watch this space.
