Bob Aylott Wins Julia Margaret Cameron Award

Bob Aylott is this years recipient of the Julia Margaret Cameron Award Trophy. The Award provided by Dimbola, is presented each year to the person who the IWPOY recognises as having made a great contribution to photography and photographers on the Isle of Wight.

IWPOY Awards Focus On Community

We were humbled when Cllr Stephens congratulated the efforts of the IWPOY and IWDIG ethos in bringing photography to a mass audience on the Island. Anyone who is able to succesfully focus community attention and sustain interest in any subject 50 weeks a year is to be applauded.

Michael Cooper Wins Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year 2010

Michael Cooper's image of a Misty Morning on the island has won him the title of Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year 2010. Runners up in joint second place: Martin Sothcott, Windswept Clouds-Newtown Creek and Jamie Russell with Fishing the Calm Summer Waters-Shanklin Chine.

IWPOY Winners To Be Announced At Exhibition Launch

The long wait is almost over , as the winners of the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards 2010 will be announced early next month. Whilst the judges made their selections of 40 shortlisted entries in February the top three winners will be kept under wraps and revealed at the launch of the annual IWPOY 'Wall of Fame' Exhibition in the Quay Arts on 7th April.

There are a great many enthusiastic and talented photographers on the Island. The Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards, provide a free open community competition for anyone with an interest in photography, to showcase their creativity and artistic flair.

Focus On IWPOY Shortlist

The final shortlist for the Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year Awards 2010 is announced today, Thursday 17th February. There is a slight change to the competition format this year with only 40 instead of the usual 50 entries appearing in the shortlist. This change allows space for prints from the Isle of Wight Young Photographer of the Year to be displayed alongside the Elements category shortlisted entries in the Quay Arts Exhibiton.
