Frank Doorhof first judge announced for IWPOY 2015

The Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year organisers have great pleasure in announcing the first judge for the 2015 competition is the internationally renown photographer and trainer Frank Doorhof. We would like to take this opportunity to welcome and thank Frank, along with his wife Annewiek, for agreeing to take part in the IWPOY this year and we very much look forward to catching up with them both at the awards presentation evening in January 2016.

Frank DoorhofWe are sure that most of you will already have seen Frank’s work online, at Kelby One training, maybe you met him at the photography show earlier in the year  or his website www.frankdoorhof.com , but for now just sit back and enjoy Frank’s Bio, it certainly makes for some interesting reading.

Frank was born on May 6th 1971 in Amsterdam. His parents and grandparents were very active with photography and film, so Frank was already in contact with photography and film at a very young age. Especially his grandfather had a deep impact on him and inspired him from the start to pick up photography. At a young age the whole family moved to the NoordOostPolder, now part of Flevoland. A wonderful area of the Netherlands with great nature and lots of photo opportunities.

At the start nature and sports were the primary interests and especially animals in motion were a subject that was photographed with passion, this passion for movement became later a prime subject in the model photography. After many years of shooting analogue mainly as a hobby Frank picked up video and completely switched to the video side of imaging. At that moment he had started a computer company together with his wife Annewiek and they were living in Zwolle. Continue reading

IWPOY 2015 It’s all in the frame! launched…

We are very pleased to announce the launch of the 2015 Isle of Wight Photographer of the Year competition. Open to all Isle of Wight resident IWPOY launchphotographers, whether amateur or professional, the registrations are now open.

The Prizes and Judges will be announced as the competition progresses and don’t forget to read the competition Theme “It’s all in the frame!” & rules carefully.

We are very much looking forward to seeing your images this year and we are sure that as with previous years the standard will be very high. Wishing the best of luck to all of you and keep checking back so that we can keep you up-to-date… Good Luck!
